Start from a template
Templates give you a working structure to adapt instead of beginning with a blank canvas. They are a good choice when the form or workflow resembles a familiar job, such as event registration, feedback, an application, a payment request, or an approval process.
Where to find it
- Open the editor.
- Select New.
- Scroll to Template library.
The library has two tabs:
- Form templates for form-focused starting points.
- Workflow templates for process-focused starting points.
Choose the right starting point
Use Form templates when the main task is collecting information from respondents. Use Workflow templates when the form is part of a repeatable process, such as approvals, onboarding, expense handling, service requests, or purchase orders.
Choose the simplest template that covers most of your intended outcome. It is quicker and safer to add a few fields than to remove or rework an elaborate template that does not match your process.
Find a template
- Select Form templates or Workflow templates.
- Use the Search for templates field to enter a word or short phrase.
Searches are most useful when they describe the job to be done, such as event registration, application, payment, or approval.
- Optionally select one of the suggested searches below the search field.
Form suggestions include Contact form, Event registration, Application form, Payment form, Signup form, Job application, and Feedback form. Workflow suggestions include Approval, Employee onboarding, Expense management, IT service request, Purchase order, Project management, and Change request.
Review the matching template cards. Each card displays the template name and indicates that it is ready to customize.
Select the template you want to use.
AbcSubmit opens the selected template in the editor so that you can adapt it to your own process. The inherited fields and pages are present before you rename and save the copy.
- Review every field, setting, notification, workflow step, and publishing option before using the form with real respondents.
A template is a starting point, not a finished policy or process. In particular, replace sample contact details, recipients, due dates, approval rules, and wording with your own.
If you cannot find a template
- Try a broader phrase. For example, search
registrationrather than a highly specific event title. - Switch between the Form templates and Workflow templates tabs; each tab has its own library.
- Check spelling and try common task words such as
feedback, approval, orapplication. - Start with a Blank Form when a template would require more changes than it saves.
If the template library shows No matching templates, AbcSubmit recommends trying a broader phrase or checking the spelling. The workflow-template view also indicates that an account-specific template must be marked as a workflow template in Form Settings to appear there.
Expected result
The selected template opens as a separate form or workflow that you can rename and customize. Its inherited fields and process settings are not automatically correct for your organization; review and test them before sharing or publishing.
Before publishing a template-based form
Use this quick review:
- [ ] The form has a specific name.
- [ ] All sample text, recipients, and placeholder values are replaced or removed.
- [ ] Required fields and conditional rules match the real process.
- [ ] Email notifications and workflow assignees point to the correct people or groups.
- [ ] Payment, security, submission, and privacy settings have been checked.
- [ ] You previewed and tested the form with non-sensitive test information.
- [ ] The publish method is intentional; the form has not been shared before it is ready.
Notes and limitations
- Search results update as you type and are limited to the most relevant set shown in the library; refine the phrase if the template you expect is not visible.
- A workflow template may require form settings, workflow configuration, recipients, integrations, or plan features before it is usable in your organization.
- Shared with me is the area where forms shared with you inside the company are visible. It is not a template library. Review it read-only only when you have the shared form owner’s authorization.
